"It [dementia] causes a gradual deterioration of not only the mind but the body as well," Mitchell said. "The body gets weaker and weaker. Just like in cancer or AIDS, for example, people may ultimately have a pneumonia at the end."

I wanted to create a running list of items, based on the last several years of my experience working with my parents and my partner's mom getting older and dealing with unexpected issues every step of the way. I can be nearly impossibly to keep on top of everything that's going on and worse, very few people seem to understand what is happening. This goes double when you are younger. Most people experiencing their parents age and their decline in health have already bought a home, raised children into highschool (or college [ or beyond]). Instead, I am in my early thirties, renting and unable to really start my adult life while I watch my parents start to die.
